After years of feeling smug that I had never had Covid.

Felt crappy last week , thought it was just a heavy cold.
Noticed I couldn't really taste stuff, so as a wee test tried tasting a
finger dipped in chilli powder this led to me digging a couple of covid
tests out of the cupboard.
Guess who was positive ?

Mind you only reason I knew it was Covid was a self administered test.
Very tame compared to most of the horror stories (I suspect I have
something nearing the Omicron variant than the Delta).

As soon as the tests are negative shall re-enter the world, rather
than self isolating for a further twelve days (can't remember the
details anyway).

I fully understand Covid was a much deeper threat a couple of years ago.
But as of now I feel I have got to think that something which you have
to take a test to tell you you have it, is no longer much of a threat

True. On the other hand, from what I remember, the symptoms you have is
what most people got, it was a (large) minority who reacted more seriously.

It's still a threat, but nowhere near as bad for most people so I suspect
you are doing the right thing. Glad to hear it's "just" a cold-like
symptom for you, get well soon :-)
