I'm getting prompting on all accounts, and it says temporarily unavailable

Yes, it certainly seems so. Earlier the status page admitted to an
email issue that they were "working on". When I checked just now the
status page was returning page unavailable as well.

Today, I got a flurry of email earlier, but I've just sent one of my
addresses some mail from google and nothing has appeared at all.

I got that last night when I did a quick check for e-mails when I went
to bed. This morning blueyonder is giving "temporarily unavailable" on
both POP3 and IMAP addresses. So the temporary has lasted nearly 12
hours so far.

Some time ago when the amount of personal webspace was bigger if a
viginmedia address was used, I set up a virginmedia.com address which I
rarely use after the personal webspace was discontinued, just an
occasional check on it to keep it alive. I have just tried the
virginmedia address and it waited a while on "sending secure login"
until eventually I got a failure on that one too.

It looks as though all of VM's email services are down at the moment.
This is really inconvenient because I am waiting for an e-mail reply at
the moment and nothing is coming through.

I had the same problem last night / early morning, I was having a
problem with my Virgin Android App and thought I had broken e-mail

I started my email client at around 8:30 this morning. The POP3 access
wanted me to input my password despite the norm being that the client
looks after that, so there must be a service problem again. The
equivalent IMAP access does work so I will receive new mails by that
route if there are any. The IMAP access to my virginmedia emails is
working but it is very slow.

Am not so sure it is back (for me).
Last email i had was Mon 22:11
Usually by now (11:15am Tue) I get a weekly email and that would have
arrived by now.
Maybe there's a backlog of emails?

Yes same here. I suspect its not a queue, its just failing to get emails in
a timely fashion.
It would not hurt them to put up a page explain the problem in lay terms so
we could actually tell what is going on. For a few weeks on and off , I have
had packet loss and messages on web sites like the rest of this data could
not be obtained.
Now Virgin have been upgrading their systems all over the country, and one
cannot help but wonder if they have used some new software and its bugged as
hell.

Am not so sure it is back (for me).
Last email i had was Mon 22:11
Usually by now (11:15am Tue) I get a weekly email and that would have
arrived by now.
Maybe there's a backlog of emails?

That is bullshit, as its nation wide and is it appears now not actually
getting email in but is just looking like you have not had any. I know I
have as our council sent me some just after midday and its failed to show
up.
The problem I was told was in their internal network at Virgin, which also
meant that the internal phones were not working and neither were their voip
to the customer service people. This is what happens when you put all your
eggs in one basket.

Like everyone else I was compulsorily changed to a VOIP telephone. I
didn't try calling customer service, but I have made an received dialled
phone calls while the email was down and they all connected without
problems.
